2012 Ice Out Contest

2012 Ice out contest UPDATE

Originally I put up the webcam so I wouldn't get a thousand emails and phone calls asking "when will it be ice out ?". This year you can see for yourself and have a chance to win something. This year it is a dinner for 2 here at our Inn, now that you can drive in. The contest will start today and all entries must be submitted by midnight April FOOL'S Day (sorry, circumstances beyond our control has persuaded us move up the date) You can guesstimate again if you'd like. Whoever chooses the correct day and the closest time of the ice out, WINS! One entry per person please.

Ice Out will be determined when there is no ice visible on the webcam.

2012 Trails

Thanks to all, we had a great winter season here and it was our pleasure to serve you. +58F in the shade here with low 60s and mid 70s for this upcoming week, the snow sled season ends rather abruptly, well it was good while it lasted! We'll be closed until Spring fishing for a little R&R. Still one week of riding for us, so we'll head north sledding.

3/16/12 Trails

3/15/12, Just returned from grooming to Ragged Lake and back. Trail is now in excellent shape. The 6" of new snow that fell yesterday really helped out. This should make for great weekend riding (may be the last).

People riding today said that the lakes are great and the trails unbelievable for the warm weather we've had. See you this weekend!

SNOW 3/14/12

Looking good today 3" of new snow in the last 2 hours.

Rode from Abol to the parkway trail then 109 to Black Pond trail, took the 10-40 trail to the south end of Caribou Lake, up the lake to the Deer Pond Trail, then here. 87 miles in all, and all good going. Few bare spots yesterday, todays snow will take care of that. Lakes are fine and flat.

3/10/12 Trails

Just returned from grooming. Little sticky at first, but as time and miles passed it got better. +12F now, so the trail should set up real good by morning.

Just missed the Ragged groomer at the turn around by 10 minutes or so. Sounds like they where grooming all their trails tonight also.

3/09/12 Trail Conditions

Even with a high temp. of 58F yesterday, sledders reported good going and that the trails were holding up better than expected. In the last hour the temp dropped 10 degrees to +21F. Light snow overnight with continuing flurries as I type.

We still have over 3' of snow off trail. We plan on grooming tonight when the temperature drops.

Trails and Parking

Trails are as good as they can be! Groomed them all last night and the boys where over to Mud Pond yesterday cleaning up the connector trails the best they could.

Doubled the size of the parking lot at mile 6 on the Pine Stream Road yesterday for all you camp-owner's that will be up this weekend. Make sure you park out of the way of the log trucks that are hauling out of mile six. They need plenty of room to make that curve. If there is no room left, park at mile 4 where the trail crosses Pine Stream Road. DO NOT PARK AT MILE 5, You will be towed or buried by the men working there, and I don't blame them for that!
