Plenty of Snow

We are still in a great snow position here. The extreme cold weather had made several more inches of ice here on the lakes and travel on and off trail exceptional. 24"-36" of snow on average. See ya soon!

1/21/13 Trail Conditions

Excellent trail conditions!!!! Groomed last night to Ragged's Trail before and during the high winds. Picked up 6-8" of snow from this last system. Widened 95% the trails from 12' to 20'+ last night. Conditions where perfect to get it done with the new snow and yesterday's high temp of 40F, -5F now, so it should have set up perfect.

For you folks that are waiting for better February and March conditions. This is the best I've seen it in the 13 years we lived here. Just the right amount of snow on and off trails. A few warm days the last two weeks have settled everything down and travel on and off trail is something you only read about.

Come up and Enjoy!

1/19 Trail Conditions

Just ran 110 mile loop south of here and the trails are in fantastic shape. Even off trail and lake riding, perfect conditions. Sad to say for the rest of you, their wasn't anyone out there. I'm not complaining, just letting you know what you missed. Only came across 6 sledders enjoying the perfect conditions too. Happy trails!

Gromming Conditions

Just returned from a 6 1/2 hour run to the Ragged Trail. Groomed up real nice for the first run of the season. The new groomer worked flawlessly. All the new controls that we fitted to it and radios all worked like textbook. Good run. 2'-3' of snow down towards Lobster and Little Lobster Lakes. Great views, maybe b/c the groomer does 7mph wide open. So slow down and enjoy!

AND YES WE ARE OPEN WITH GAS JUST DELIVERED!

2013 Snowmobile trails

This year we have all new trails. We had to re-route 30 miles or about 95% of them due to cutting operations in the area. Thankfully, the landowners have provided us with the use of alternative trails, we can't thank them enough for allowing us the use of their lands, it's truly a privilege. You'll love the trails coming up from the south. Outstanding views of Lobster Lake, Spencer Mountain, Mt Katahdin and many more. So here it is:

From the SOUTH, Greenville, Kokadjo, Rockwood, Millinocket, and Jackman. Take the Spencer Mountain Trail that is perfectly groomed by the Ragged Riders SC. West of the "NFG" trail a mile or so, head NORTH on the Maxfield Brook Trail and follow the signs and trail from there. It's a 28 mile ride to Chesuncook Village. The trains are 21 miles from Chesuncook and the trail is marked.

From the NORTH, Take the Shin Pond: To ITS 85 south to trail 71D on your right.  Continue straight to where 71D takes a hard right to go down to Grand Lake Seboeis to the new Libby Pinnacle Loop, goes straight at this intersection.

From Houlton: Take ITS 86 North to ITS 81/85 south to trail 71D south on your right.  Follow that past Grand Lake Seboeis.  In about ¼ mile take a left at the intersection on to Libby Pinnacle loop.

Then from Libby's Camps follow the signs to Chamberlain Lake. Once on Chamberlain Lake you'll head west to MUD BROOK COVE at the Mud Brook campsite. Follow the signs from there. DO NOT TAKE PLOWED ROADS or ALTERNATIVE ROUTES. YOU WILL BE TICKETED!!!!! There are only 19 LEGAL access points in the AWW, please use them.

We have approx. 12" of clear ice out front. There is a good 24" base, over 3' in the woods. Riding on and off trail has been excellent.

There is no better snowmobile map than a DELORME's GAZZETTER. Bring one along, you won't ever regret it. A compass wouldn't hurt either. GPS's eat batteries in the cold!
