Happy Snowy TRAILS,

Thanks to all that signed the petition. It was a big help and the trail stays put for this year anyway.

Snowed about 10'-12" overnight. Blowing and drifting makes it difficult to determine just how much we received.  We had a good solid 12"-18" base of frozen hard packed snow under that so sledding is good.Just went for a nice ride around Gero island and didn't see a soul! Nothing major groomed yet, just a few club trails to make getting around a little easier. Lake ice is a clear 6". Some slush with the weight of the all the snow. Still some open spots.

Brought in a 1999 BR275 MP Plus the day after Christmass. Fabricating a hitch now and going over every nook and cranny of it. It's in very good shape but needs some updating. Looks like we are a week out on our first run. A lot of welding and retrofitting from a ski-slope machine to a trail dragger. The PB240 headed down to Abol Bridge to groom portions of ITS86 and it's drag is getting refit to the 240 from the 170.

Off to a good start. Should have our trail nailed down in a week. A lot of cutting in the area, and a lot of hauling going on before more snow hits.

Snow

None yet, still waiting. Everything is ready, sleds, groomers, drags. Spoke with the land Manager yesterday and we'll have our trails nailed down in a few weeks. A lot of factors in where the trail is located, harvesting operations, trucking, and timber markets all dictate where the trail will be. We're just grateful that we are allowed to groom their property and they let us ride the trails and un-plowed roads.

One trail that is be scrutinized by some is the one right out front. Please sign our Club's petition at: Petition Piscataquis County Commissioners , It's explained there why we need a petition.

Our Chesuncook trail doesn't just serve the village. It has a huge impact on others north of us. Folks with camps on Cauucomgomoc, Chamberlain, Haymock, Ross, Round, Chamberlain, Snake, Elm. Leadbetter, and Millinocket Lake to mention a few. All use this trail  as well  as numerous camps south of us.

Commercial outfits like McNally's, Maccanamac, Loon, Libby's, Nugent's, Oxbow, Mattagamon, Shin Pond, and countless numbers of Maine Guides and trappers that use our trail in pursuit of making a living in one of the toughest remote terrains in New England.

Yes, I did say Libby Camps This will be their first winter open to snow sledders and have GASOLINE. Great saddle bagging from here. Stay with Libby's and with us for great accommodations and terrific food. Make a loop around the top of the Baxter and visit Shin Pond and Mattagamon then back down to Millinocket. Lots to see and new places to ride.

Remember WE GET SNOW FIRST and WE HAVE SNOW LAST! Well some day soon anyway.
